57,000 SF, state-of-the-art renovation of a former printing plant into the Animal Care and Rescue Center for the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The renovation includes extensive demolition, installation of carefully sloped floors (for drainage), HVAC and other MEP upgrades, addition of a 15,000 SF mezzanine and construction of animal care areas, workshops, offices and public space. Due to the highly specialized and sensitive nature of this facility, the project involved installation of sophisticated life support systems to create unique environmental conditions for sharks, fish, reptiles, marine mammals, exotic birds and other species.
This project won the 2018 ABC Baltimore Project of the Year award, 2018 ABC Baltimore Excellence in Construction award and achieved LEED Silver certification.
