CCBC’s Catonsville campus required an increase in University’s electrical capacity and distribution. The existing switchgear yard required a complete renovation and full enclosure of their yard.
The building work included extending the existing partial CMU walls higher and fully enclosing the space, installing roof trusses and standing seam metal roofs. The completed walls are brick and quarry stone veneered completing the look to maintain the aesthetics of other buildings on campus.
The new building houses a new switchgear, including a cable pit with 5 ductbanks, distributing the power throughout the campus and new BGE power service. The building also houses a 1250KV generator to serve the critical campus systems during power outages.
