The Maryland Board of Public Works has approved a major project for Program Open Space, a fund dedicated to preserve and grow parks and other public lands and designated $10.1 million to renovate and upgrade the Druid Hill Park’s 60-year-old pool.
Plano-Coudon has been awarded the contract to provide renovations that include the installation of a new children’s pool, renovation to the existing main pool and deep end pool, installation of new aquatic features in all pools and a new one-story bathhouse building with tensile membrane structure over the bathhouse.
According to Baltimore City Parks and Recreation, the proposed upgrades will increase capacity from 300 to 500. To supplement the anticipated increase in attendance, the renovation will also include the construction of an 80-space, new parking lot.
Work on this important renovation of the Druid Hill Aquatic Center highlights the continued commitment to work within the Baltimore City communities we serve.
Construction is expected to begin June 2020 and the pool is scheduled to reopen for summer 2022.
