Plano-Coudon’s portfolio has long featured an extensive and varied list of education projects. As a young company, we landed contracts with higher education institutions and steadily built our expertise in completing all manner of new construction and renovations on campuses.
We understand that meticulous planning, on-time delivery, great quality and construction processes that prevent disruption to campus operations are vitally important on education projects. We also know from experience that a top-quality contractor in the education construction market has to be versatile in order to meet the myriad needs of a higher educational facility.
At the University of Maryland Baltimore County, we completed a $2.9-million renovation of Chesapeake Hall dormitory – a project that involved replacing the exterior cast stone with a curtain wall system, installing all new windows and installing 184 new air conditioning units with associated electrical and finishes. We completed the project during summer break by carefully scheduling all work into six-day work weeks with 10-hour work days.
At Towson University, we completed a fast-track, Construction Management at-risk project that included: installing completely new kitchen equipment and serving stations; upgrading mechanical, electrical and plumbing infrastructure and adding a bio-remediation system; and renovating a dining hall, dish room, offices and community center.
Our renovation of Johns Hopkins University’s Dunning Hall received a Craftsmanship Award for exceptional, custom, sheet metal work.
Our renovation of the University of Maryland Baltimore’s Dental School produced a modern laboratory and enabled the installation of state-of-the-art dental chairs.
